Statement for Landscape Paintings
While painting on location, I love immersing myself into the natural beauty around me. I am captivated by changes of light due to seasons, times of day, location, and weather conditions. Surrounded by the lush Oregon greenery and fresh air, I am able lose myself in the incredible light and subtle color notes of the landscape. Caught up in the focus of painting, my mind can take a reprieve from the chaotic stresses of everyday life. I am lost in reverie; in awe of the world in which I live, and I try to capture this experience of transcendence with paint.

Statement for Little Songs of Joy Series
With as much stress, anxiety, and conflict as there is in the world, I strive to create artworks that uplift and cheer. I began working with birds because these small and ephemeral creatures symbolically embody an immense feeling of joy. Bright notes of color placed next to another create visual harmonies, similar to musical notes in a melody. This series focuses on the small wonders of life, using color combinations to suggest little moments of joy.
